Resources

Below are resources we think are interesting and helpful in thinking about the market for small and medium-sized businesses (“SMB’s”).

SMB Market Conditions

The Pepperdine Private Capital Markets Project at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management publishes a quarterly survey of market conditions in the SMB market. The survey queries mergers and acquisitions advisors and business brokers across the country and is a great resource on current valuation levels and analysis on why deals do or do not close.

Resources and Perspectives From an Active Buyer

Hadley Capital is a Chicago-area private equity firm that purchases SMB’s.  They maintain an excellent website with a great deal of resources for business sellers.  Their “Guide to Selling Your Small Company”  is available here and provides a detailed introduction to the sale process. Their website also includes a simple valuation calculator, as well as an interesting blog with a variety of posts on relevant mergers and acquisitions topics.
